Tasawwuf
Detailed Section - Information about Tasawwuf
Answer to those misguided in tasawwuf
A sufi has to listen his great sufi saints Their sayings must be enough for them to understand what ytasawwuf is . What few of popular great saints of tasawwuf say about this, is presented here.
Hazrat Bayazeed bustami RAH said that don’t be deceived even if you see someone performing marvels unless they are fully shariah compliant, and they restrain themselves from sins and do good deeds.
Hazrat Junaid bughdadi RAH says that only route to reach Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ is through the path of Hazrat Muhammad صلئ الله عليه وآ له وسلم.
Hazrat Abul Hassan Noori RAH tells us that do not even think of going closer to someone who crosses the boundaries of shariah.
Hazrat Khawaja Naseeruddin chiragh dehlvi RAH said following Hazrat Muhammad صلئ الله عليه وآ له وسلم intentionally through one’s tongue, actions, and etc. is necessary to please Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ and establish link wih him.
Khawaja Moin uddin Chishti RAH said whoever follows Shariah completely and continually and shows steadfastness gets nearer and nearer to Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ.
It is also important to note that sometimes these saints tried to hide things from the oblivious ones, therefore, they have often used terms with dual meanings. The deserving ones have gotten the real meaning but undeserving ones would fail to understand the true meaning. That is why a rule is established to judge sayings of sufi saints in the light of Quran & sunnah and if it is in line with Quran & sunnah, it is accepted, otherwise, rejected. Sometimes people do not quote the exact sayings of sufi and mix things within them to make it difficult for the coming generations to separate out the truth and the false. Lets suppose that if we encounter any such saying of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jillani, we should rather than denying the facts of Quran & sunnah, ignore it as a fabricated text of saying of Hazrat sheikh because Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jillani attained such a distinct place in front of Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ through following shariah, then, how could he have said something against it. We should exercise caution and not say anything either against the Quran & ahadith and / or Sheikh Abdul Qadir jillani to avoid disrespect of both as our religion teaches us to stay away from both because disrespect of Quran & sunnah will take us away from hidaya (right path) and we receive the knowledge of hidaya through these saints and their disrespect will create doubts in their credibility and thus ultimately our religion. Khawarij and batineen were moved away from the right path due to disrespect of rijaal allah (Friends of Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ - Saints) and Quran & sunnah respectively.
The real purpose of tassawuf is to behave as the true subject (servant) of Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ and do not look on anybody else for anything, this is called reverence (bandgi). Submission / surrenderance of one’s choice completely to the will of Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ is called fanaiat (surrenderance). The consequence upon achieving fanaiat, the subject gets buqa indullah (eternal life from Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ spiritually), the result of these achievements is mehboobiat-e-Illahi (Love for the subject from Allah سبحا ن ؤ تعا لئ ). If one understands these, he/she can easily understand tassawuf. The tareeqat and shariat are not two separate things rather tareeqat is means/method to achieve complete shariah compliance in one’s life. Tareeqat is not a philosophical term with depthness that cannot be reached by anyone but rather a simple phenomenon that includes training techniques to enable one to adopt shariah completely.
The offspring of our Sufi Saints have fashioned Urs, Qawwali, samma, and introduced new traditions (bidaat) in the name of tareeqat but none of these have anything to do with the religion. Then there are those who call themselves ashiq-e-Rasool صلئ الله عليه وآ له وسلمbut are all caught up in bidaat and they neither themselves want to move out of these malice nor let others get out of this.
